16/05/2023

ADI has announced an investment of €630 million in a new R&D and manufacturing facility at its European headquarters located in the Raheen Business Park in Limerick, Ireland.

The company's plan to triple its European wafer production capacity aligns with its objective of doubling its internal manufacturing capacity. This significant investment is expected to create 600 new jobs, adding to ADI’s current Irish headcount of 1,500 and European headcount of 3,100.

Last year, ADI invested €100 million in ADI Catalyst, a custom-built facility for innovation and collaboration on the same campus in Limerick. The location also houses ADI’s main European Research and Development Center, which has produced over 1,000 patents and has inspired ADI R&D sites in Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain, and the UK. This investment is part of the EU Important Projects of Common European Interest on Microelectronics and Communication Technologies (IPCEI ME/CT) initiative, which will enable cross-border collaborative research.

The new investment is a significant boost to ADI's presence in Ireland and the broader European region. It showcases the company's commitment to innovation, R&D, and manufacturing excellence. The added production capacity will enable ADI to expand its portfolio of cutting-edge semiconductor technology products while also supporting the growing demand for advanced electronics across various industries.

The investment also highlights ADI's partnership with the Irish government and the EU on the IPCEI ME/CT initiative. This program aims to strengthen Europe's position as a leader in microelectronics and communication technologies by promoting cross-border collaboration between companies and research institutions. ADI's participation in this initiative reaffirms its dedication to advancing the region's technological capabilities and driving economic growth.

Moreover, the investment will further enhance Limerick's reputation as a global hub for high-tech innovation. The city has become a hotbed for cutting-edge technology companies, with several leading firms establishing their operations there. ADI's continued investment reinforces Limerick's position as a top destination for businesses seeking access to world-class talent, infrastructure, and resources.

Overall, ADI's latest investment represents a significant milestone in its long-term strategy for growth and expansion in Europe. It demonstrates the company's confidence in the region's potential and its commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships with governments, research institutions, and other key stakeholders.
