DB HiTek obtains license for Weebit Nano's ReRAM technology

Weebit Nano has entered into a licensing agreement with Korean foundry DB HiTek, allowing them to use Weebit ReRAM in their customers' designs. Weebit ReRAM will be made available in DB HiTek's 130nm BCD process, which is suitable for a variety of analogue, mixed-signal, and power designs.

Weebit CEO Coby Hanoch believes that DB HiTek's customer base will benefit greatly from using Weebit ReRAM in their new product designs, as it offers improvements in retention, endurance, and power consumption. Weebit expects to sign further commercial agreements with top-tier foundries, integrated device manufacturers, and fabless design companies in the coming months. ReRAM is a back-end-of-line (BEOL) technology that does not require process tuning, making it advantageous over flash for BCD processes. Weebit ReRAM also provides higher density and endurance than conventional Multi-Time Programmable (MTP) technologies.

Under the technology transfer and qualification agreement, Weebit and DB HiTek will work together to transfer Weebit's embedded ReRAM technology to a DB HiTek production fab and then qualify the technology for volume production. The technology licensing agreement grants DB HiTek a non-exclusive license to manufacture Weebit ReRAM as embedded NVM in designs from customers globally. DB HiTek will add Weebit's memory module to its BCD 130nm Process Design Kit (PDK), allowing customers to use standard modules or have them customized to their needs.
