On the 5th of July, 2024, ispace technologies US, a space transportation specialist, announced a significant milestone in their preparations for Mission 3. The company has eagerly entered a cooperation agreement with the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) to facilitate the operation of the APEX 1.0 lunar lander. The SSC, renowned for its expertise as a provider of communications ground stations, will be instrumental in ensuring the success of this mission.

The partnership holds great promise as ispace and the SSC gear up for the launch of Mission 3 in 2026. With its headquarters located near Stockholm, Sweden, the Swedish Space Corporation is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in supporting the operation of the APEX 1.0 lunar lander. Leveraging its extensive network of ground stations strategically positioned across the globe, specifically SSC Connect, the SSC will establish and maintain crucial communications links. These links will enable seamless spacecraft control and real-time data reception, facilitating the transfer of critical telemetry and ranging data from low Earth orbit (LEO) to lunar orbit.

Established by the Swedish government in 1972, the Swedish Space Corporation has since grown to encompass 700 employees across its global offices. Over the years, the SSC has established itself as a trusted partner, collaborating with various space agencies, companies, and research institutions to further the cause of space exploration.

The collaboration between ispace technologies US and the Swedish Space Corporation represents a significant step forward in the realization of Mission 3. Together, these two entities are set to push the boundaries of lunar exploration, with the goal of advancing our understanding of and capabilities in space exploration. This partnership showcases the commitment and innovation driving the advancement of military and aerospace electronics in the pursuit of new frontiers.
